If you’ve got back pain, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve got some kind of a disc issue going on. Sadly, many people believe that if they have a disc problem, they will need surgery. Some (though luckily few) doctor’s even try to take advantage of that fear.
But there’s no need to fear, because research shows that many disc injuries don’t require surgery to fix. Instead, it shows that the kinds of pain and issues caused by these disc problems can be taken care of with Chiropractic.
It is believed that by manipulating the joints in your spine, we can alter the pressure on those discs. Reducing this pressure and stress decreases nerve irritation, improving how you feel and also stimulating the healing process.
Additionally, at Better Chiropractic we incorporate other therapies shown to help decrease pressure and stress on your discs including posture advice, manual therapies, and instruction on stretches and exercise. It’s what makes us your Premier Clinic for neck pain, back pain, and headaches here in the Gilbert area.
Before you go, here are a few of those tips to help with disc-related back pain:
- Keep your core strong without using exercises that flex the spine. For example, do a modified crunch rather than full sit-ups.
- Be mindful of your posture both when sitting and standing, and move often, as doing either for long periods of time is not good, even if your posture is impeccable.
- Finally, learn how to bend at both your knees AND hips when bending over to pick something up. You can practice this by holding a broomhandle against your head, back and bottom while squatting down, not letting the stick come off either or those three points or increasing the space between your low back or neck and the broom.
