How to Fix Low Back Pain

Movement is crucial to the health of joints. If joints aren’t moving right, it may speed up the degenerative process, cause pain, or both. This can limit your quality of life as common everyday activities become increasingly more difficult. It may also put you at risk of injuries in the future. Additionally, restrictions in the range of motion (ROM) of just a single joint (segmental ROM) can affect the movement of a whole area (global ROM). These joint restrictions will also affect surrounding muscles, causing them to tighten or weaken with time.

One of the areas most susceptible to these issues is the Low Back. Poor Posture, Lifting techniques, Falls, and much more result in the changes we just described. Luckily your Premier Chiropractic Clinic, Better Chiropractic, is equipped to best address all of these issues to restore proper motion and proper posture to your low back, relieving you of pain and preventing future injury. We do this by adjusting joints to restore segmental ROM, muscle therapies to address the muscles, and teaching stretches and exercise to promote long-term health to reverse bad habits rather than providing only short term relief. Here are a few other things you can do to prevent low back pain:

  • Stretch your Hamstrings, Piriformis, and Quadratus Lumborum (you can find videos online or ask us at Better Chiropractic!)
  • Strengthen your Core (without repeatedly flexing your low back like with sit-ups!) and Glute Muscles
  • Bend at the knees AND the hips when you lift, but NOT the Low back
  • Be more aware of your posture throughout the day, and take breaks to move around or shift positions often.

If you have low back pain, you aren’t alone. The low back is one of the most common causes of pain in the world and a leading reason for missed work. Call us today to break out of the cycle of pain and injury by restoring proper motion and proper posture to you body.
